PERSONAL THOUGHTS ON THIS PLANT:
There are several different varieties of Iris that will thrive in Houston. I love them because they can give such a different texture and form to areas instead of your typical rounded shrub. Many of them also have beautiful showy flowers. Yellow Flag Iris works as an ideal plant in wetter areas; along streams, swales, water gardens etc. but is also invasive.
African Iris and Bi-color Iris both have white to off white flowers and can function well is drier well drained areas in a low maintenance garden.
